A visit to DE BUCHAZ Farm

I took a trip to DE BUCHAZ Farm and I was impressed. De BUCHAZ Farm have Fisheries and poultry section, their poultry is mainly layers and they boast of good quality egg, low cholesterol level, their fishes are well fed with the right feed composition and their maintainance practices is superb.. The farm is own by a lady currently undergoing Enterprenuership Development training at SSEDC in  Calabar. It good to see women involved in Agriculture....

Today Nigeria Agricbusiness Group is holding there General Annual Meeting at muson center onikan, they are bringing all Agric stakeholders together to know the way forward in Nigeria Agriculture. The president of this group is Sani dangote. NAGB goals is to serve as an all inclusive private sector group- setting policy direction through public sector engagement. "Bitter Kola" Let Medicine Be Thy Food And Food be Thy Medicine

Just like the caption reveals some of our vegetables, fruits, food product are highly nutritious and medicinal, and one of such is Bitter kola. It has high nutritiounal content when eaten raw. Study reveal that Bitter Kola contain carbohydrate of 70.31% ( abundant ), moisture content of 9.28% was significantly high, ash 4.17%, crude fibre 3,94% , crude protein 11.27%, ether extract/fat 1.03 were present in appreciable amount. The level of vitamin C, calcium, potassium, and iron were significantly high. This result suggest that Bitter Kola posses nutritional and healthy benefit.

Ok a quick one, do you know every time you apply your face mask, facial cream, anti-ageing cream, you are applying a snail slime? Yuck!! Some people may say but very true.  Snail slime is a kind of mucus an external body protected by snail. It aids their crawling and help prevent the disiccation of exposed tissue. Snail slime is jellylike in nature and contain 98% weight of water combine with a small amount of high molecules weight glycoproteins, calcium, pigment, and lipids. In time past it is used medicinally against gastrointestinal ulcer and in form of syrup for cough but now China use it for cosmetic because of high protein and it helps minimize the damage cause by the free radicals that are responsible for premature skin aging. Women In Aquaculture Monthly Meeting

So today is the monthly meeting of WIA in cross River state. Let me tell you a little about these great women. Gone are the days when women take the farm produce to the market and also follow their husband to the farm. Now, women till the ground and soil their hand with the ground so to say, produce our own agric product, process into a good colorfully branded product for human consumption. These women are into different value chains from cassava to plantain, fish, palmoil production to poultry.  If u are a woman in agri business then this is a group for u to be part of. A TRIP TO JONES AND STOKES FISH FARM

 I took a trip to jones & stokes fish farm situated in university of Calabar, I had the opportunity of seeing there hatchery which was restricted to only staff because of sensitivity of the fry( baby fish) to bacteriaL infection. I saw there grow out pond and their earthen ponds section. They have over 15 hatchery unit and collapsible ponds of 8 and earthen ponds of about 10 that have more than 10,000
Catfish and tilapia. It a place to be, so serene and peaceful. So incase you need any amount of quantity of catfish and tilapia ( owanbe things) please visit jones & stokes farm. Ohh I almost forgot they also have Shrimps too. Hygienic ally packaged fish and shrimps.....
